Jeep, last month, pulled the covers off the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The JL Wrangler is the latest iteration of the Willys-Overland jeep in its 75 year history. Much more evolution than revolution, we can’t wait to give this Jeep a try.
We’ll be honest, we want one. There’s something primal about the Wrangler when you see it. Jeep made the right choice a few years ago to offer the SUV as a 4-door Unlimited version as well making it infinitely more practical for every day use.
The 2018 JL comes with the latest technology like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a full colour UConnect central hub, LED exterior lights as well as the use of aluminium in the body to reduce weight.
On the engine front the trusted 3.6 V6 Pentastar engine is still around pushing out 285hp, but the big news is a 2.0 4-cylinder turbo engine not seen before in the Wrangler. This new engine produces almost the same amount of power as the V6 at 270hp. Fuel economy differences between the two remains to be seen. For lovers of diesel engines, Jeep now also offers the Wrangler with a 3.0 V6 diesel engine. Transmission wise you have a choice of a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic.
Jeep didn’t back down on the car’s 4×4 capability with Command-Trac and Rock-Trac 4×4 systems, next-generation Dana axles, new Selec-Trac full-time two-speed transfer case, Tru-Lock electric front- and rear-axle lockers, Trac-Lok limited-slip differential and 33-inch off-road tires.
Now you only have to decide which trim, engine, transmission, 2-doors or 4-doors and what colour you’re going to get! Go to www.jeep.com to find out more.
