So versatile that some replace it as their source of water
The first thought that pops into my head when I smell coconuts is ‘summer’. It reminds me of coconut oil sunscreen, sun screen lotion with coconut oil added and body wash and body lotion with coconut oil.
Ok, so you’ve probably figured out by now that in the summer months I smell like a walking, talking coconut farm. Guess what, I don’t give a damn. The smell brings me happiness in its own special way and there’s nothing wrong with that. Some of my favourites at the moment are….
Reef Sun Tan Oil
O…M…G, the ultimate summer smell. This Australian beauty of a brand has been around forever and comes in handy 125mL bottles offering either No SPF, SPF6, SPF15 or SPF30+. I tend to only use SPF15 and SPF30+ seeing that Australia’s sun is brutal and I don’t want to get melanomas, etc.
All varieties have coconut oil in them and except for SPF30+ also include almond oil and sesame oil keeping your skin nourished and hydrated while you get your tan on. Only downside to this product is that it is kinda sticky so not great for the beach if you are, like me, annoyed with having sand stuck to you the whole time and being sandpapered every time you move. Aside from that, Reef Sun Tan Oil is awesome.
Another great Australian company offering a range of sun protection and tanning products. They’ve been around for 40 years and are the #1 tanning brand in Australia. Their products don’t include oxybenzones, are against animal testing and offer a selection of vegan friendly products as well.
And you’ve guessed it, they’re just as nuts about coconuts as I am. They have a great range of products with coconut oil in them! The Le Tan Coconut Spray SPF30+ is my go-to sunscreen. Easy spray, applies really easily and smells great. The spray also comes in a SPF50+ version and if you don’t want a spray they make a normal lotion version in SPF8, 15, 30 and 50+.
Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula
Just like their iconic Cocoa Butter Formula the range offered by Palmer’s (ET Browne Co.) with coconut oil is great. They understood the error of their ways and made this a whole range with a shampoo & conditioner, body wash, body lotion, body oil etc. These products don’t contain sulfates, parabens or phthalates, but can include fragrance.
My personal every day favourites are the body wash and body lotion. Wouldn’t go a day without them.
Even now that summer is over here in Australia, it is only starting for those of you in the northern hemisphere. With these products you can bring a little bit of summer into your life, no matter what time of year it is. Stay sun safe though!
Make sure you take care of your skin and read the label before applying. There’s plenty of product out there that can irritate your skin like essential oils, fragrances, etc. Keep a look out for review I’ll be doing on a great range of men’s skin care products that keeps it real and their products without the marketing bullshit.
